About
I have always been interesting in learning: when it happens it is life changing, yet so many educational contexts are so poor at supporting it. I have been privileged to land up in a post where I am permitted to fully focus on this interest: in my own teaching in the chemical engineering programme at UCT, in my research which focuses on understanding student learning, and even in my own ongoing learning in chemical engineering, my 'adopted' discipline (my initial training is in chemistry). My research home is in the Centre for Research in Engineering Education (CREE), based at UCT, which is a community of researchers in university level science and engineering education.
